Psst.   Hey, c'mere!

Interesting in Volunteering at Traveller's Rest?

We need YOU!

(I, personally, could use some help with this ridiculous hairdo.)

Volunteers are an important part of TREES.  We welcome those who wish to participate in offering new lives to senior horses, ponies, donkeys and mules that have had less than happy pasts. Experience working with horses is not a requirement.

Here is a small sample of some of the activities you may wish to help with:

  • Mucking stalls

  • Feeding the residents

  • Maintaining barns, fences, paddocks and fields

  • Researching information for web site and educational literature

  • Grooming horses

  • Staffing information or fundraising booths at fairs and other events

  • Designing and “building” posters and other displays for educational events

  • Researching grant opportunities and writing proposals

  • Organizing fundraising and educational events

  • Designing educational handouts and newsletters.

  • **TREES is in particular need of fence painters for Spring 2008!**  Are you part of an organization interested in a group project?  Give us a call at 540-972-0936 or email info@equineelders.org

New arrival "Phoenix" learns that meeting new people is nothing to fear.

Fredericksburg United Methodist Church VBS participants prepare a stall for expected new arrival.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age**, though minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when at the sanctuary. We look forward to working with you to make TREES a safe haven for our equine residents and to help owners of senior equine keep their horses healthy, happy and at home.

If you are interested in Helping Forgotten Friends, please download a Volunteer Questionnaire, a Liability Waiver and a copy of the Farm Rules.  After reviewing the documents, email info@equineelders.org or call 540-972-0936 to arrange your initial visit and tour.  Please bring the signed documents with you at that time.

yard sale!

Assembling a modular shelter before winter sets in.

TREES welcomes clubs, school and college classes, scout troops, church groups and members of any other organization interested in a group project or seeking a way to meet community service requirements.  **Minimum age requirement may be waived if the organization carries its own liability insurance.
